GMS Elevator Services has a distinguished legacy in the vertical transportation industry, spanning four generations of leadership and innovation. Founded in 1987 by G. Mathew Simpkins, Pamela Simpkins, and Gordon Simpkins, and incorporated in 1992, GMS has evolved from a small family-owned business into a dynamic and independent elevator company with a dedicated team of employees. In 2003, we proudly welcomed the fourth generation of elevator mechanics, Nathen Simpkins, into the company, further strengthening our commitment to long-term expertise and leadership in the industry.

Over the years, GMS has significantly expanded its capabilities. In addition to providing traditional elevator services, we began manufacturing custom elevator equipment and hydraulics, allowing us to better meet the unique needs of our clients. This expansion reflects our dedication to maintaining industry-leading standards, ensuring that our team remains at the forefront of technological advancements and best practices.

In 2003, we also implemented a robust safety program, in partnership with state and federal accredited programs tailored specifically for elevator mechanics and apprentices. This initiative has played a crucial role in maintaining a high standard of safety and training, ensuring the continued success and well-being of both our team and our clients.

Looking to the future, we are excited to announce a new distribution partnership with Kohler Elevator to supply state-of-the-art Machine Room-Less (MRL) Equipment throughout the Los Angeles area. This partnership underscores our ongoing commitment to offering the most advanced and efficient vertical transportation solutions to our clients.

In 2014, GMS expanded its service offerings by introducing the refurbishment of elevator cab interiors, including refinishing entrances, installing new ceilings, and updating flooring. These enhancements, in tandem with our unwavering focus on safety, quality, and growth, have allowed us to take on larger, more complex projects and continue to meet the evolving needs of the vertical transportation industry.
